Shared and Saved Configurations
From their desktop, users of FactoryWidgets® can load the configuration of their widget from the default settings that come with FactoryWidgets, or choose from global configurations that their system administrator has setup and made available to them. Users can also save their own personal, custom configurations.
Configurations are saved at the WidgetServer so that they can be easily managed and backed up in one place. If a user gets a new computer or has to reload their computer, their configurations are safely stored and can be retreived in seconds, without administrator intervention. This capability is also useful if a user makes a change to their configuration and doesn’t like the result. They can load their last saved configuration with a click and get back to where they were.
System Administrators can mark configurations as “global” at the WidgetServer, so that all users have access to them. Users cannot overwrite a “global” configuration. If they want to change it, they would have to save it as their personal version. This enables administrators to easily make a common configuration available to all users, making setup with many users quick and easy.
